TLDR : Answer Summary
The best long-term visa for staying in Thailand largely depends on individual circumstances. For someone currently on a Non-Immigrant O visa (spouse visa), continuing with the marriage visa and extending it annually is considered one of the easiest options. Alternatives include the Elite Visa, which offers a long-term stay with less hassle but is expensive, and a retirement visa, which may have fewer requirements for extensions. Ultimately, it’s advisable to choose the longest term visa that one qualifies for and aligns with personal needs.

Elite visa is the least hassle. It is also the most expensive, and is basically a very long tourist visa.

Anywhere from 5 to 10 years. With a near automatic (or so I have been told) extension of another 5 to 10 years. Meaning of you do 5 years, you extend for another 5. If you do 10 years, you extend for another 10.

And it is not a visa but en extension of stay. The easiest way is to make a retired extension. The cheapest is an extension becouse of thai wife .

Just extending your existing marriage visa is your best and easiest option

retirement is much easier to extend. No consideration period, no neighbor interviews or home visit, no photos in front of the house needed etc.

a lot of people that qualify for marriage extension get retirement instead just to avoid all that. "easiest" is avoiding it all.

What visa are you on now? (There's about six or more different non-O visas, so you need to be specific)

Almost rejected this question because you're not giving any relevant information.

What does best mean?? How do we know what you mean by asking when you haven't given any details?

Are you over 50? Are you looking for the cheapest options? The easiest option each year? Do you want the ability to work in Thailand?
