TLDR : Answer Summary
The best immigration office in Bangkok for visa extensions depends on the type of visa or entry stamp you have. If you have a Tourist Visa obtained outside Thailand, you should go to the main Immigration Office at Chaengwattana. For those who entered Thailand on a visa-exempt entry stamp, the appropriate location is IT Square at Laksi Plaza. It's important to remember that your immigration office depends on your place of residence registration, whether you're staying in a hotel or privately, and the specific visa type you hold.

Visa exempt you have a choice:

IT building is great as you can get it done without prep or knowledge. It does require you to go 4 steps and waiting at every step and only get to actual immigration at the last step. But every step is to make sure you have the right documents and if not they can help you. So here best to come early to avoid long waiting, which could be all afternoon if you come after lunch.

If you know exactly which documents you need, the photo and copy of your passport I would upload it with the via government office e-extension and make a pick up appointment a few days later. The website doesn't explain the requirements very clearly.

In both cases there are shops where you can get something printed and your photo taken if needed.

In Bangkok you go to one of two Immigration Offices for Extensions of Stay. If you bought a Tourist Visa from a Thai Embassy/Consulate outside Thailand before you entered you get your extension from the main Immigration Office at Chaengwattana, Building B, Counter J. If you entered on visa-exempt you are going to go to IT Square, Laksi Plaza (3rd Floor) temporary office, just next to Lak Si station of SRT Dark Red Line.

I answered the question. The OP didn't specify which visa, only asked which is the best immigration office and I told him.

The best immigration office is the office you have to go to which depends on location and which type of extension. All the others can't be used and are wrong locations. By saying Changwattana it is misleading and in this case wrong.

Chaengwatthana is the best immigration office for me. The OP didn't specify any visa. It was a general question, and the answer was accurate.

no, though you intended to help, unfortunately your answer was wrong. OP would have lost time going to the wrong place and been turned away, so definitely not "the best place" for OP.

Obviously when OP asked the question he didn't want to know where other people go, but where he should go. Where you or I go is irrelevant for OP.

Best immigration office is not choosing a restaurant depending on someone's personal taste and where you get food anyway.

My answer was not wrong. It is 100% correct. Read it again. I made two statements, both of which are 100% correct. The question was not about restaurants

"Whataboutism" ? 2 other wrongs doesn't make it right.

You're the one OP replied to thinking he had to go to Chaengwatthana, makes sense I reply here. Dude. My comments are not meant for you. They are meant for OP and whoever is in a similar situation. Chaengwatthana is completely wrong for OP, just admit the truth. If you want a post in which Chaengwatthana is correct, then start your own specific post with your own specific answer.

It depends on whether you have an actual visa, or you entered with no visa and got a free visa exempt entry stamp.

With a visa you go to the main government complex out at Chaengwattana. Visa exempt you go to IT Square Laksi Plaza. 3rd Floor.

You must extend your stay at the immigration office you are registered with.

If you are staying in a hotel, the hotel has registered you. If you live privately, the homeowner/landlord must register you within 24 hours.
