Hi everyone! I posted something similar before, but I'm still having issues, so any help/advice would be amazing! I will be going on a visa run to Penang, Malaysia in a few weeks. I just wanted to know if they will accept a USA background check that was done online? (A background check without fingerprints). If not, what are my options? Ok, thanks so much in advance!! :)

perhaps a bit outdated. I just used some search terms on background checks and this came up as I worked my way back.

I am looking to go to Penang, Malaysia in a few weeks as well (for a VISA renewal). I have never needed a background check. Was the online one ok? Did you have any type of notary (US Embassy or?)?

if not, what did they want/need?

Thank you for the follow up.

My new language school wants me to pickup a letter from them today, and go to a specific Thai police office that can generate a report. The cost is 100Baht and should take somewhere 10-20 days to return.

I'm hoping that process will suffice.

I stand corrected, you are right I am wrong, Penang DOES require a police background check for an ED visa (just like KL does).

I think you are mistaken :O

when you click on the requirements look and see what thai consulate the page sends you to.

Unless I'm wrong if you click on the requirements for Penang you get directed to the Kuala Lumpur website.

Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry for the misinformation.

Currently on a student visa. Renewed 3 times (every 90 days).

I will be switching schools to a new education visa.

Have never done background checks.

Penang, Malaysia mentions needing one on their website.

Hmm, first you're not going to renew ANY visa by going to a thai consulate in another country :O You're going to BUY a completely new visa from them

Secondly how about mentioning what visa type you're actually applying for when you go to Penang?

And how would Penang know if you did or didn't submit fingerprints when you got the background check?

That's a good question! lol, I guess if my USA background check had fingerprints included, it would show on the physical copy for it. I have my Thai background check with fingerprints, I just don't have fingerprints from the USA, lol. Hopefully it will be ok! I'm just looking for a legitimate site I can use to get an online background check
