TLDR : Answer Summary
The 'take photo, scan MRZ' feature in the TM30 app allows users to capture the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) of their passport. This section contains crucial identification numbers that can be scanned directly by the app to automatically fill in passport data. If you're unsure about filing the TM30, remember that it is ultimately your responsibility, and you can either rely on your landlord or self-file through the immigration office.

TM 28 or TM 30? Thought TM30 was the responsibility of the property owner or landlord.

No, it's your responsibility to make sure the TM30 is filed. If you don't think the landlord will file the TM30 for you, you can self file the TM 30. Contact your local immigration office for their TM30 policy.

And print it and staple in your passport as you can't do anything with immigration (Phuket) without it

Remember ONCE you get all your data entered AND saved, go back in and using the search function find your data and take a screen grab of it. That is your proof of having filed a TM30.

Looks like this

The MRZ is the numbers and letters at the bottom of the passport and you can use your phones camera to read it and it will fill in the passport data for you

I find that after scanning the MRZ, I need to check and correct some of the data. Odd letters and numbers wrongly scanned.

Just to confirm, that is a "fake" ID you posed, right?
