Getting all my documents together for a retirement visa from home country of USA.

Right now trying to get my criminal background check done. Called my local law enforcement agency about getting this done. They seem to be clueless, they mentioned about finger print card that does that meet the requirement for Visa? Second of all does have be an official hard copy letter from an official office stating that im cleared or can they email the background check and then i print the the results off and use that as my background check document?

Thank you in advance for any help, I live in the state of Ohio

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a retirement visa in Thailand, you will need a criminal background check from your home country, specifically from the FBI if you are in the USA. In Ohio, this involves getting fingerprinted, often through the Criminal Justice Information Services, which can provide the necessary report. You must submit a hard copy report with your visa application; emails or printed copies of results are typically not accepted. Additionally, ensure you provide proof of income, such as bank statements showing a minimum deposit. Consider contacting local law enforcement for specific guidance on the process, as responses may vary.

That's odd because by the time I was getting back into my car at USPS I got the email already. Check your email spam folder maybe? But you should have your hard copy delivered by mail within the next few days.

I got an electric copy emailed to me almost immediately after I did the fingerprints at USPS and then a hard copy of it came in the mail about a week later. If you got the electronic copy you can always upload that document onto the Thai embassy's website in your visa application. You don't have to wait for the hard copy to come in the mail.

In California I got fingerprinted at one of the main post offices in my area and that was electronically submitted to the FBI. My criminal report was generated immediately electronically and emailed to me and I also got a hard copy in the mail a few days later. Also, before going to the main post office to do the fingerprinting you need to do an online application with the FBI first. The FBI charged $18 for the application and the post office charged $50 for the fingerprint scan. And not all post offices do fingerprinting so when you apply for your application on the FBI's website it will give you a list of the ones that do it in your area. The easiest way to do this is have your fingerprints done through USPS. Then you upload the FBI document online when you apply for your visa.

The UPS stores also do fingerprinting but I think it only generates a hard copy card and you have to mail it in. So it's a little more complicated not doing this through the USPS.

Yes you need a fingerprint card

Go to the

You will need to send your fingerprints to them they will send the report

Also you need proof of income.
