I am in the process of applying for O-A visa from Canada. One of the requirement is a "Certificate of criminal record clearance from the country of nationality". Is this something I can get online?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process for obtaining a criminal record clearance certificate for an O-A visa from Canada typically involves applying through the RCMP, where fingerprints may be required. However, alternatives exist such as a simple National Computer check for visa purposes. Local police stations may also assist, but online options seem limited based on current knowledge.

I had it done at local RCMP. This was a couple years ago now . There are two options. One requires Fingerprints and takes a couple of weeks and one is just a National Computer check. The RCMP asked we why I required it and I told them it was for a Visa. They said for that all you need is a Computer Check. So I just went with a simple computer check and submitted that with my application to Thai Embassy in Ottawa and was no problem.
Seems to be a lot of trouble getting your finger prints from the RCMP. This whole process is so complicated and time consuming.

Lawrence Bell. Complicated and time-consuming? If you're wanting to live long term in Thailand and start dealing with Thai immigration, please get used to these words. 🤣
it is what it is, how bad do you want a visa that lets you in to thailand for a year when you arrive :P
Conversely you could show up here on a visa exempt or a 60 day tourist visa, and get the Non-O visa and year extension inside the country at the immigration office

I’ve had to get these done several times for overseas jobs. You’ll likely have to get it done at your nearest RCMP station, not the local police. They’ll need to take your fingerprints and then run the background check. Usually takes a couple of weeks to process.
