I will be arriving in Thailand October this year on a non O visa. My question is, what is the cheapest way to transfer 800k Baht from my English bank to a Thai bank. I have a Revolut card, but have never used it. Some people say use Wise, others Swift transfer. Your thoughts please gentleman?

I was just curious. The best way to transfer the 800,000 baht that is required for visa from your bank in America to a Thai bank when opening a new account. Do they have a domestic router number in Thailand? Thanks

Hi all, sorry this has probably been talked about a hundred times but I am still struggling trying to get my head around this depositing money into a Thai bank account, so you are one of the lucky ones that gets a bank account within the first few days of arrival, you have to deposit 800000 baht and have it in your account for 2 months before you apply for your year extension, can you bring that amount into the country, plus spending money, or would it be best to use something like wise and transfer the money but what happens if it takes to long to get all the money transferred over so you have all the money in for the 2 mouth dead line remembering you only have a mouth to sort it, sorry again if this angers some people asking this but it is a concern to me and probably a lot of people in the same situation, and please no comments about how easy it was for you when it was years ago and everything was easier, lol

My smart friends, question:

US bank account, Does it make better financial sense to withdraw 30,000 baht from local ATM and then deposit it into Bangkok Bank with out of province fees and local bank exchange rates...

OR use Wise and transfer?

No matter how rich, we all try to safe money where we can. I don’t want to pay hundreds of dollars for fees and lost conversion rates. So I applied for the 5 years TEV 3 weeks ago. Ever since I try to get a bank account to make the 600.000 THB payment for the membership.

The plan is to slowly transfer the money from Wise to the Thai Bank account. Slowly, because I see many people get their account frozen by wise if they transfer too much money at once. I know some get away with it. But I use wise daily and do not want to risk getting my account frozen and then wait weeks to get it unfrozen. Because I read Wise customer service is slow and terrible.

But so far I got rejected from every bank I tried in bangkok. I even tried the bangkok bank in opposite of Thai Elite in Silom. They have no interest to help me. I don’t know some people are stupid or it’s a communication issue, but they asked me to take out the 600.000 THB from the ATM in cash and then put it on the bank account. That way they can help me they said. lol.

Any other bank recommendations where somebody had luck with a tourist visa?

Just an Australian expat question, the Centrelink will pay my pension directly into my Bangkok bank account, do they(Centrelink) get good exchange rates or should I just transfer it myself through a private transfer system, Cheers for any answers.
