Wise (aka Transfer Wise) sent me a "Wise card." What exactly is it good for? I thought Wise was *only* for transferring funds. 🤔

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Wise card, also known as the TransferWise card, is versatile and can be used for various purposes beyond just transferring funds. Users have shared that it is great for spending and ATM withdrawals (though some noted fees for ATM transactions in Thailand). The card offers excellent exchange rates when used abroad and allows users to hold multiple currencies, switching automatically depending on the currency used for the transaction. It's recommended as a backup payment method and for online purchases. Additionally, the Wise card integrates with digital wallets like ApplePay, making it a convenient option for expats traveling or living in Thailand.

Not good for ATMs here, if you have a choice, as still has 220 baht transaction as per normal. But good for card payments. No fee for that.

I keep it for online payments and as backup incase something happens with my local back card (not yet but redundancy always is good).

And as said for travelling to other countries. I've not since before covid but Thai bank cards rarely worked. Wise always did.

The card is awesome

I store multiple currencies but the card normally takes care of that anyway

And you can turn the card on and off within the Wise app if you are not using it for a while

It's great,! Take it on holiday and you will get the best exchange rate of anyone.

Change the money on the card for the currency to where you are going on holiday Thus no charge for exchanging from your home currency to the one to where you are going on holiday .
