TLDR : Answer Summary
In response to a request for affordable travel insurance recommendations, community members provided various suggestions based on their personal experiences and considerations. They emphasized the importance of choosing a provider based on the individual's nationality and circumstances, recommending options like purchasing insurance from one's home country for better service and coverage. Specific companies mentioned include 'Tick Insurance,' 'Fast Cover,' and 'Safetywing,' with a focus on obtaining coverage that includes medical expenses for COVID-19 and 24-hour support. Key factors to consider include coverage for pre-existing conditions, medical history documentation, and ease of communication with insurers.

Safetywing is a good choice & you can purchase it whilst travelling also.

I went for an expensive cover covid that includes ( I just had covid and am dead scared of getting it while OS on a visa exempt 30 days), both medical and trip disruption, as well as cover for a known medical condition and motor bike riding. Also has real people manning phones rather than email communication only. It was with Fast Cover, but if I wasn't turning 70 while away and feeling paranoid after going nowhere for 5 years, I'd have gone for a cheaper cover - 1cover or maybe something like Tick.

I travel today from Australia and I have purchased Tick insurance reasonably priced , hope that helps you

I advice to buy travel insurance from your country of residence. And consider benefit below

- medical expense to cover COVID.

- able to contact 24 hrs. the contact number is always on policy scheduled.

- Private hospital in Thailand is able to provide international insurance assistant immediately and fast. Just need to make sure your insurer get your call and reply your email in Timely manner.

- Evac and Repat back home that cover minimum 3-4 millions baht

- prepare pre medical history and make a copy with you. They may request if you have symptom like stroke and sudden heart failure. The med expense will be always high. They may ask you to pay and claim due to suspect pre existing

If you want to buy travel insurance as inbound package, it would be good for medical expense as company in Thailand is able to settle guarantee of payment directly just call to tell then the hospital yoj wanna visut and symptom that you have. If it is not symptom or accident that suspect for pre exisitng or illegal activitues, it will be so easy. For other benefit like baggage delay, travel delay, it would not be good as they must transfer compensation to your bank account which if you use international bank acc, they require wire transfer and you will get compensation deducted by teansfer fee.

Usually the best is one from your own country

You aren't really giving any details to answer your question.

What nationality are you? Are you there now? Are you in Thailand now? Where you will you be traveling? Do you just need the coverage for one country or multiple countries? One trip or multiple trips?
