Hey everyone - I submitted my DTV application to the Thai embassy in Berlin on the 8th of January, so I will hopefully hear back soon.

I have read some reports about needing to send in your passport for the visa to be inserted once the application is approved, and others that have said they just received an approval email and then showed that at the border when entering Thailand and they were stamped in with DTV in their passport.

Can anyone shed any light on the actual process that's in place currently?

I am just trying to plan ahead as much as possible, and obviously sending off my passport will take longer than not having to.

Also if anyone has any insight into current processing times at the Berlin embassy it'd be great to know!

Thanks for your help!

Hi I’ve got a problem with the eVisa system. I hope someone can advise me how to proceed.

A week ago I applied for Non-O visas for me and my wife at the Thai embassy in Berlin, completed the applications and paid with my credit card. I just checked the progress and both are marked “Pending Payment.”

Now just around that time, without any prior warning, my bank swapped out my credit card due to a “security issue.” All the payments I made around that time on the old card were honoured, but I see there’s no debit for the visa payments.

On the eVisa website, there’s no mechanism for going in and changing the payment details.

Does the “pending payment” mean they just haven’t gotten to my application and processed the payment? Or does it mean the payment was blocked and never went through? (Maybe my bank’s security problem was actually the visa payments processed by Kasikorn.)

Should I just let those applications die and submit new ones with the payment from my new card? Or wait for them to come back to me and ask for payment?

We’re traveling to Thailand mid-August so the clock is ticking.

Hi everyone,

On December 13th, I submitted my documents to the Thai Embassy in Berlin. Today, I received feedback that only biometric photos from a photo studio are now accepted (which is no problem). They also requested an "explanation of how I work remotely in Thailand."

On Friday, I submitted the following documents: proof of residence in Germany, a freelance work contract, a certificate from my employer confirming that it is a remote position, and my German business registration.

What exactly should I explain now? That I only need internet and a laptop, that the time difference is not an issue, etc.?

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

DTV remote work - Thai embassy Berlin

I had a phone call with the embassy and as a german citizen it is a requirement to either have a german company or be employed with a german company. At least that's how I understood the woman I was talking with. I have a foreign company and live as a nomad so applying in Germany is out.

Also asked her about medical treatment. Since this visa is so new they haven't had a case yet and don't know if a single appointment for a treatment in Thailand is enough. It definitely needs to be an official document from the hospital. But the embassy in Berlin might forward this kind of application to Thailand to evaluate if they would approve the visa or not.
