DTV remote work - Thai embassy Berlin
I had a phone call with the embassy and as a german citizen it is a requirement to either have a german company or be employed with a german company. At least that's how I understood the woman I was talking with. I have a foreign company and live as a nomad so applying in Germany is out.
Also asked her about medical treatment. Since this visa is so new they haven't had a case yet and don't know if a single appointment for a treatment in Thailand is enough. It definitely needs to be an official document from the hospital. But the embassy in Berlin might forward this kind of application to Thailand to evaluate if they would approve the visa or not.
TLDR : Answer Summary
A German citizen inquiring about the DTV visa for remote work contacted the Thai embassy in Berlin. They learned that an application is contingent on either working for a German company or being self-employed with one, making it difficult for nomads with foreign companies to apply. Additionally, regarding medical treatment in Thailand, the embassy noted that no prior cases had been handled due to the visa's recent introduction, but an official hospital document would be necessary for the application.
