TLDR : Answer Summary
A German citizen currently in Indonesia can apply for a Thai e-visa online without needing to visit the embassy in Jakarta. Several comments confirm that it's possible to apply while abroad. However, caution is advised regarding providing accurate travel details to avoid issues. Some users suggested alternative options such as applying at the Thai Embassy in Singapore, although there are reports of complications due to prior travel history during the pandemic. The German consulate has verified that applying online is viable even from Indonesia.

if they have an extensive history of being in thailand during this covid shit show they will not get a tourist visa from the thai consulate in Singapore. (they are denying people with several covid stamps or a history of being here (even with a valid visa Non-O, Non-ED) during covid

I told you already you can. Apply online! Just put in flight number TG921 (Thai airways fra-bkk). They email the visa to you!!!

the consulate just confirmed I can use my bali-Bkk ticket and don’t need to be in Germany for application so don’t need to pretend anything

So lying to the eVisa system to get the visa is the way to go?

you're not lying to them! When I apply for a visa I don't book a flight beforehand. If the visa is granted, then and only then, I book a flight!!! If they're asking for flight details on the application I always fill in a flight number! They would have a lot of work to do if they were checking every applicant with the airline!

why I can not just put in my real flight from Indonesia to Thailand? Or is it really .. legit they are only to be allowed to issue visas while I am in Germany?

@Klaus **********
the internet doesn't care where you are. But it's always the nearest embassy to you that's responsible for you! That's why you put a flight number in that's leaving the country where you apply for the visa!

@Оливер ********
so you are lying to the evisa system, saying your IN your home country and then again by giving a fake flight that originates from your home country to thailand even though you're sitting in Cambodia?
Michael ********
You are not supposed to, there was one lady came unstuck because they asked for flight details and she put her flight from India instead of UK where she said she was applying from. So never done one personally but suppose can just put a flight number or get one of the dummy ten dollar tickets if requested.
