What are the updated visa requirements for Germans applying for a retirement 90 O s/m Visa to Thailand?

For Germans coming to Thailand on a retirement 90 O s/m Visa please be advised to contact the Embassy (Berlin) or Generalkonsulat (Munich or Frankfurt) before applying for a visa. The regulations have changed and there is a lot more paperwork to bring by!

In the case of my Mom coming to stay with me for 3 Month now in December, they now need in addition to the usual a "Letter of Invitation", copy of my passport (main page and depending on the officer copy of my Visa and Receipt of Notification), a contact person/guarantor in Grmany, copy of your pension statement (no less than 1200 € p/M) or bank statement of the last three month with never going below 5000 €.

So people with condos, houses and longterm leases please inform yourself which paperwork/copies you have to bring by in order to get your visa!!!!

The answer as to why they make it so complicated now, meeting international visa standards!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Germans planning to apply for a retirement 90 O s/m Visa to Thailand should contact the Embassy in Berlin or the Consulates in Munich and Frankfurt regarding new paperwork requirements. In addition to standard documents, applicants now need to provide a Letter of Invitation, copies of the main passport page and possibly the visa and receipt of notification, a contact person in Germany, recent pension or bank statements proving sufficient funds. This change aligns with international visa standards.

What's the matter,? Why panic? No major changes. I went to the Berlin Embassy 2 times this year. First 60 day later O-A visa. All straight forward. Can't get your point.

A simple tourist visa is 60 days and it can be extended for 30 days at Immigration = 90 days.. Simple to do. For just 90 days an O visa gains you nothing

Well, there are only 3 places in Germany to get the Visa Berlin, Munich and Frankfurt, if you have a longer journey to one of these places then get your information before hand, better than having to travel twice! As well there are probably also different papers to bring if you have a condo here or a holiday home. Basically there will be more paper work if you are not staying in a Hotel.

Then your post seems a bit different than this ease you describe now. ???

Joe D Greene a simple 90 day O Visa as every year. See my answer to Pascal. In our case it is quite simple cos she lives around the corner of the new Munich consulate and I will send her the stuff on Monday.

@Pascal *******
for the 90 day it was different up to recently. And what is not written there, is that if you stay private (like my mom is staying with me for the time) she needs a letter of invitation and my passport copies!

Daniela Dalaa Payerl - an hour to get to immigration seems less of an ordeal than what you describe for the O Visa.. By accident did she file for an O-A visa and not a simple O?
