TLDR : Answer Summary
The German Embassy does not issue retirement visas for Thailand. The retirement visa, or Non-Immigrant O visa for those over 50, can be applied for at a Thai Immigration Office. You can initially obtain a 90-day visa for 2,000 THB and after 60 days, apply for a 1-year extension for 1,900 THB. Multiple re-entry permits are also available for 3,800 THB.

Okay, thanks. Koh Samui office is not know as the most friendliest office in Thailand. Best option is as mentioned visit the Immigration office and ask if you can convert your stay into a Non Immigrant O visa based on being over 50 years of age. (official name) and cost 2.000 Thb, This visa is for 90 days, after 60 days you can than apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years of age (official Name), cost 1.900 Thb, if you have this 1 year extension of stay stamped in you can directly apply for the Multiple Re-entry Permit, cost 3.800 Thb.

Ich gaub' am besten gehst auf die Immigration und schaust, was die sagen, wenn Du dort bist.
Also in German language it is not allowed to name visa agents. Beside that if you have any problem with my advice, feel free to advice in a better manner. I deleted your comments.

With the Extension of Stay from Immigration Office you make 90 days report at the office or if they agree with the system by mail or internet.

can i make the 1 year extension for stay in samui at the immigration ????
Robert *******
Than your only option is to go abroad to a Thai Consulate or Embassy and apply there for the Non Immigrant O visa based on being over 50 years of age. This visa gives you 90 days and after 60 days in Thailand you can apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay and apply for the multiple re-entry permit.
Office girl ? You mean an Immigration Officer at the Samui Immigration Office or a visa agent?

Best option is to give small details of what he want or how he like to stay long time, we can give him the advice how to do. He can also use the search option in this group to see the difference in visa and extension of stay to get more information.
Andrea ********
Ups, sorry, I think you should go to Samui Immigration and ask there and see what they say.

Nein, 4 different visa and the Extension of Stay are all called retirement visa, some of them you can get at Thai Consulate or Embassy in nearby country, one of them only at Thai Embassy or Consulate in country of residence and one Visa and the Extension of Stay you can get at the Immigration Office in Thailand. The German Embassy only provide visa's to live in Germany (schengen), I don't know if they have a retirement visa to live in Germany.
