TLDR : Answer Summary
It is not uncommon for the US Embassy to request tax returns as part of the visa application process. This practice can vary by embassy, and some applicants have reported similar requests. The specific timeframe for which tax returns are requested may differ, so it is advisable to prepare your documents accordingly when applying through the DC Embassy.

How far back do they request, so I’ll know? We are going to be doing ours through the D.C. Embassy.

- Thai consulates, but not sure in USA or somewhere else. honestly, I have not paid that close of attention. I just know I have seen others mention that they were required to show tax returns. Doesn’t seem to be common, but something some applicants have been asked to supply. Not sure if it is a blanket requirement by that consulate or if they want further evidence of your actual employment.
