TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired whether their upcoming non-O visa extension from January 2022 to January 2023 would be accepted given their passport expiration in March 2023. The comments clarified that as long as the extension is applied for before the passport expiration, it should be processed without issue, but the user would need to renew their passport before the following year's extension.

you do realize you're asking a question about an extension that isn't up for almost another year AND the following year extension too right?

i don't get your question. I was wondering if i need a 6 months validity AFTER the end of extension. I heard people mentioning 18 months of validity for a 1 year visa/extension. So i have to renew my passport during 2022, right?

you're confusing the misunderstood rules about entering thailand OR the rules about BUYING a visa from a thai consulate with getting an extension inside the country at the immigration office .

Inside the country you need your passport to be valid for as long as you're going to get the extension for

AND

Because you are getting a year extension in Jan 2022 which will run until Jan 2023 and your passport expires after that you're fine

Thank you for your answer! It's clear to me now.

okay, if your extension stops on Jan 2022 and you apply for a new yearly extension you'd get until Jan 2023 <- which is less than the validity of your passport, so you'll get the whole year no problem,

BUT

the following year you're gonna hafta get a new passport BEFORE you do the next extension
