l will be on my first Non o visa based on retirement obtained from Kalasin. l need to leave Thailand early May and return to Thailand on 15th May. The visa will expire on or about 17th May. l will get a extension before l leave, what l do not understand is do l get the re-entry permit for the non O visa or the extension. l don't understand if once l get the extension that takes over the day it is issued. Thank you for your patience.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the process of obtaining a re-entry permit when leaving Thailand on a Non-O visa based on retirement and how it interacts with their extension. The response clarifies that once the user applies for the year's extension, it will add a year to the expiration date of their current 90-day visa. However, a Non-Immigrant visa obtained inside Thailand does not automatically come with a re-entry permit; the user must apply for the re-entry permit after obtaining the extension.

Okay now this posts makes more sense,

You will be getting a 90 day Non-O visa based on retirement INSIDE the country from Kalasin immigration office

You say the 90 day Non-O will expire around May 17, 2024

Keep in mind ALL Non-Immigrant visas (of any type) sold inside the country have NO re-entry permit attached to them <- That's because you're already IN thailand when you get one.

You also say you want to apply for a year extension when you have 30 days or less left on that 90 day stamp. <- Which is what Kalasin lets you do ๐Ÿ™‚ (Meaning you will apply for and GET the new year extension BEFORE you leave the country)

When you apply for the year extension that year is ADDED to the current expiration date of the 90 day stamp and will be stamped in on the same day you apply.

Once you get that year extension THEN (right after they stamp the year in) you buy the re-entry permit. It will start the day you apply for it and be valid until the new extension stamp you just got is valid until. That will let you leave in early may, come back on the 15th and get stamped in until May 17, 2024 <- the date your year extension you got the month before will be valid until..
