1. The OP is in England. What happens in England for passport renewal may not be valid for other countries.

2. To get a new passport, you'd have to contact your embassy. Type "[country name here] embassy of Thailand" in Google or your favorite search engine to find the local embassy.

4. A one year extension of stay is valid for one year, or the length of the passport's validity.

it still will have 11 months on it.

OK, I have to renew (I think) my US passport 3 years before it expires because I don't have enough pages left. I assumed it would be for another 10 years but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe another American can clarify this for me?

I'd rather lose the time on the passport and get the full extension personally. You can apply for a new passport at any point, you just lose the unused time on the old one

You would get a new extension that would run to November, 2022. I recommend getting a new passport as soon as possible.
