Can I obtain an extension of stay in Thailand if my passport is expiring soon?

I'm shutting this down.

1. The OP is in England. What happens in England for passport renewal may not be valid for other countries.

2. To get a new passport, you'd have to contact your embassy. Type "[country name here] embassy of Thailand" in Google or your favorite search engine to find the local embassy.

3. The process of getting a new passport is outside the scope of this group. Contact your embassy for details.

4. A one year extension of stay is valid for one year, or the length of the passport's validity.

5. You *can* transfer extension of stays from one passport to another.

Why not renew your passport?

You can but you will only get an extension until the date your passport expires.
