For the DTV visa, my passport expires in a little less than 12 months. I'm assuming that will be a problem right?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV visa can usually be obtained with a passport that has at least 6 months left before expiration, so having less than 12 months may not be a significant issue. However, it is advisable to renew your passport to avoid complications. When you do renew, be sure to transfer your visa to the new passport at the local immigration office, and carry both passports when traveling, as the new passport will not reflect the DTV visa information.
I had the same thing. When I renewed my passport the local immigration office transferred my visa to the new passport for a small fee and recommended I always travel with my old passport too as the passport number on the DTV printout will never be updated and will always have my old passport number on it. From my experience, this means that when they scan your new passport at the border it won’t pop up to say you have DTV, so you need to be ready to tell them you have a DTV, show them the printout, and show them the stamps to prove that your visa was transferred every time you enter the country :)
I mean it is probably better to get a new passport but usually 6 months is enough to get the visa. But you will need to move the visa to the new passport when the time comes. That happens in the local immigration office.
unless they got the DTV in there passport before they went to e visa there’s nothing to switch over just carry both passports and they’ll stamp you in in the new one
a visa is tied to a passport number though. My passport number is clearly mentioned on the visa so I still think this can be moved to another passport. That way you don't have to travel with several passports either.
your passport is linked you won’t have any problem you have a permitted to stay stamp not a visa ??You can go to immigration and ask but on re entry they’ll stamp your new passport
