If approved for DTV visa, does anyone know how it works if your passport used only has 2 years validity left?

Will the visa be transferred to new passport once renewed?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
When approved for a DTV visa, if your passport has only two years of validity remaining, you will need to visit immigration to have the visa stamped or reissued in your new passport after renewal. If you have an e-visa, it is not physically in the passport, but you should retain the old passport until the visa's validity ends.

If it's an evisa then it won't be in your passport. Visa stickers cant be transferred. In both cases you should keep your old passport for the validity of the visa.

yes, you will need to take the new passport to immigration to have stamped or e-visa re-issued if possible

Your Visa was issued at an Embassy so only they can cancel and re-issue if it's possible, ask them

hopefully it wont cost 350 euro again 🤣 but i thought the DTV is a once in a lifetime thing?
Graham ******
@Rene *****
no, it's a 5 year Visa

@Graham *****
i mean that it is issued only once in a lifetime

@Rene *****
After 5 years it's finished, I hope you don't regard that as a lifetime
Rene ******
@Graham *****
i meant that I believe they will give the DTV only 1 time in someones life

@Rene *****
Why would you believe that, nothing to that effect has been published?

@Rene *****
no. They won’t do it. But not 100% sure if it can be done at any immigration office
