TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for the DTV visa in Thailand, you need to have at least 6 months of validity remaining on your passport, as stated by a commenter familiar with the application process. It is also advised to consider renewing your passport if it has limited validity or pages left, to avoid complications during your stay.

Do yourself a Big Favor...get a NEW passport, then apply for the DTV visa.

Get another passport if you don't have much time or many pages left, otherwise you'll need to carry two passports for the next 5 years.

The application system tells you at the very beginning of the form (where you have to upload the biodata page of your passport), I think it was 6 months
