Hi! My passport is currently valid, but expires in a little over two years. I’m applying for my dtv in about a month when I’m out of the country. Will I have issues with my dtv application since it’s a 5 year visa and my passport expires in 2?

I obviously plan to get a new passport before it expires, but not yet if I can help it. I am very low on free time.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring if their valid passport, which expires in a little over two years, will pose any issues when applying for a 5-year DTV visa while they are out of the country. Community responses suggest it may not be a problem if the passport expiration is less than three years from the visa issuance date, and emphasize the importance of not canceling the old passport before transferring the visa to a new one. Additionally, a reminder to ensure at least 6 months of passport validity for international travel is noted.

I believe, just as it regularly is with traveling internationally, you need at least 6 months of validity on your passport.

All visas are Evisa now which means no requirements that it has to be in your passport just keep hold of your email and pdf where you receive your DTV :)

My DTV specifically mentions in Thai that my passport expires less than 3 years from the date of my visa issuance. So it’s not a problem.

Just be sure to not have your old passport cancelled before you transfer the visa to your new passport.
