Is It Possible to Apply for a DTV Visa with Less Than One Year Validity on My Passport?

Nov 16, 2024
Guys I'm applying for DTV visa and I have every single thing they need except it says for multiple entry you need 1 year valid passport.

Mine expires in 10 months.

How detrimental is this? Has anyone passed with less than a year? All this time I thought it was 6 months.

Getting a new passport is going to take a long time

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the concerns of applying for a DTV visa in Thailand with a passport that has 10 months left before expiration. The original poster questions the significance of the requirement for a one-year valid passport for a multiple-entry visa. Community responses suggest that while some individuals have been approved with less than a year of validity, it poses a risk and most recommend renewing the passport before applying. There are also comments regarding the current rules on passport validity for visa applications, with some participants sharing their experiences and outcomes.

Save yourself the drama and renew your passport BEFORE you apply and waste your application fee

I hope they make it harder for people to get the visa, there’s too many idiots that shouldn’t be allowed to leave their house.

What are you waiting for to get a new passport ? It’s stupid to request a five years visa on a soon expired passport 😱🙄

You can't transfer visas to another passport. You have to carry both passports. With the e-visa, maybe you can request the consulate to issue a new e-visa with your new passport details. Otherwise, you'll also have to carry both passports with you.

But it's linked to a passport number, so a manual transfer will be necessary, it's not like you can just keep using the same e-visa on a different passport with a different number without doing anything.

Why wouldn't you get a new passport first? I mean, 10 months are nothing, as most countries require no less that 6 months remaining in order to visit or even make a connection at?

No actually on the website it says passport needs to be no less than 6 months before expiry but when you go to upload it says multiple entry requires 1 year 🤷‍♂️ maybe that’s why you got yours because it’s probably not a strict rule as they are undecided themselves
