Why is TrueMoney blocking foreigner registrations with a DTV visa?

Sep 4, 2025
I have the DTV visa. I'm trying to open a TrueMoney account on my phone.

It seems that TrueMoney is blocking foreigner registrations. When you click "scan passport" it fails. But when you click "scan local Thai ID card" it works without issue.

Can anyone confirm this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user reports issues registering for a TrueMoney account with a DTV visa, stating that the app seems to block foreigner passport scans while accepting local Thai ID card scans. Various comments confirm mixed experiences, with some users successfully registering with their passports after multiple attempts and others noting that the app may have temporary bugs. Suggestions include trying without a VPN and patience in troubleshooting.

My passport worked recently and I got the basic level. I'm going to need a Thai driving license to unlock the rest of the features (bank transfers, etc.).

Did you just scan your passport and DTV Visa to get the advanced level in the true money app?

I registered with passport. I'd keep trying as app can be finicky. If using VPN, try turning it off.
