Bank account with TTB

After reports in this group that TTB accepts the DTV for opening bank accounts, I visited the Central Festival Pattaya branch. And they refuse to even consider opening an account without a work permit.

Has anyone opened a bank account with them recently? If so, which branch? I don't mind going to Bangkok or another nearby city to open an account.

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking information about opening a bank account with TTB using a DTV visa. They visited a branch in Pattaya but were denied the opportunity to open an account without a work permit. Others in the community have shared that recent changes in rules may now complicate the process, with some banks requiring a tax identification number (TIN) along with stricter regulations due to scams.

It's getting complicated... They keep introducing new rules to restrict bank account openings for both foreigners and locals due to the increasing number of scams. Additionally, some banks now require a TIN (tax identification number) for both new and existing accounts. Think twice before opening an account.

Anonym deltagare 629 Got it sorted at TTB in Bangkok/Ekkamai last week.

National ID/drivers license and TIN from home country was sufficient.

Plus of course the visa itself, passport, TM30, remote employment certificate.

Thai mobile number needed.

what is the employment certificate? A regular employment contract or something else?

And did you just give them your TIN, or did they want a tax resident certificate too?

Certificate from my employer stating that I work remotely from Thailand.

TIN: Provided a document from my home country tax authorities where my details including the TIN number was stated.

Anonymous participant 629 It can be a foreign TIN. On the forms Kasikorn sent out and now Bangkok Bank it asks country of Tax Residence and TIN. If no TIN it asks why.

Anonymous participant 629 It is something new they are asking for this. Only those 2 banks up to now started but I suspect it will be all. Same as Singapore has stated and UK I am told. Once Thailand signed up to CRS it was inevitable
