Not sure if everyone was aware for those who have long term visa which in this case includes those with a DTV, especially interesting for the DTV holders is that you can use truemoney app with all.its functions to use prompt pay just like you had a thai bank account. So one area DTV holders struggle is opening an account well truemoney has the facility to use what yiu have been missing!!! When you download the app you become a basic user then to get the advanced member you go thr the button to access the long term visa non worker and upload a picture of your DTV e visa alongside your DTV stamp.in your passport, wait up to 8 hrs or slightly longer to get approved!!! You now have access to prompt pay!!! I hope this helps. Unfortunately you can't access the functions with a visitor or visa exempt unless you have a thai license
Answer summary
DTV holders in Thailand can use the TrueMoney app to access PromptPay features, similar to having a Thai bank account. By upgrading from a basic to an advanced user within the app and providing their DTV visa and stamp, users can unlock these functions. However, there are several limitations regarding funding the TrueMoney account, such as needing a minimum cash amount or a local bank transfer, and limits on transfers and QR scans. Users share experiences with the app, including concerns about fees and account limits.

Funding the true money account can be challenging but also you are limited to 30 free QR scans to personal accounts each month. After that you start paying 25B per scan. It is great for shipping at the mall but market vendors, food carts, etc. generally don't use business accounts.
Stephen Lodewick I don’t find this an issue. 30 per month seems plenty unless you hit the market everyday and buy from multiple vendors. I think my first months I only had a couple of personal account payments.
Funding the TrueMoney account is a challenge. ฿3000 cash at 7-11 or need a friend with a Thai bank account to transfer money into your TrueMoney. There are limits of ฿50,000 so you won’t be buying a motorbike with TrueMoney either.
GreyElephant🐘 you can also go to a true money phone shop. They often have a kiosk where you can add cash, up to 20,000baht, in a matter of a minute. For instance, in bluport mall in Hua Hin, there’s two kiosks in the shop.
GreyElephant🐘 you can connect a visa to fund the account not only cash or a thai bank or 7-11 account but you have to unlock the additional functions and be more than a basic user and the.limits are higher 500kbaht per month as an advanced user which is enough to buy a motorcycle
Graeme Mort We might be splitting hairs here. I use and like TrueMoney but it does have some real limits and it can be expensive for some things like transferring to a bank account to pay a bill. I have had a few examples of this like my juristic office. I get my partner to pay those bills as it is free for her to transfer to another bank account.
I am trying to minimise bank fees so I would not use the linked Visa debit card method, the fix rates are OK but generally there is a 1.5% international transaction fee applied by my bank. I have a credit card that waives international transaction fees but not my debit cards.
I don’t understand the 500k limit you mention.
You can receive up to 500k in a month but the add money limit also applies. If I send using prompt pay from SCB there is a limit of 20k per day. This is not using the top up method but sending money from a bank account not related to me hits this limit.
(4) Adding money to or making payments through a bank account linked to the TrueMoney application. Maxmimum limit 50,000 THB per day
(Except for transactions made via Kasikorn Bank, Bangkok Bank, and Siam Commercial Bank, which are limited to THB 20,000 per day.)
