TLDR : Answer Summary
The availability of opening a Kasikorn bank account in Chiang Mai with a DTV Visa is currently problematic. Many comments indicate that it is very difficult for holders of a DTV Visa (a multi-entry tourist visa) to open a Thai bank account, and some participants mention that even Thai Visa agents are unable to assist with this process. Suggested alternatives include looking into other banks like TTB, although experiences can vary. It's also advisable to check local expat Facebook groups for additional guidance and support.
I was able to open one at ttb on DTV few months back. But due to recent changes in Wise, TTB is no longer one of the banks that can receive thai Bhat hence looking at other options
Anonymous participant right now it's extremely difficult to open a Thai bank account with the DTV visa. It's considered a multi entry tourist visa for 5 years. Even Thai Visa Agents who used to arrange for the bank account for DTV Visa holders for a modest fee are saying they are not able to get a bank account with the DTV visa.
Wishing you success in getting open a Thai bank account in any Thai bank. Please update us when you get a Thai bank account. Thank You π
On DTV Visa - might not be easy. I asked about account openings at another bank on Thursday and they said not possible on DTV now. The list of requirements was 1) Correct Visa, 2) Two forms of photo ID (Passport and Thai Driving licence she asked for) 3) Certificate of Residence 4) Long Term Lease or your Property Registration.

Anonymous participant Yes, I saw Wise had changed. In the above example I gave I asked in a local branch of a bank where I have account elsewhere ie Bangkok. To open another account locally I have to provide all the documentation above I mentioned. I have been a customer for years. My salary went in there when I was working and if it matters are in one of their hire tiers ie special queue etc and service. They still demand everything again to open a new account just at different branch
thanks but I already got TTB on DTV few months back. But due to recent changes in Wise, TTB is no longer one of the banks that can receive thai Bhat hence looking at other options
