Have recent DTV holders experienced bank account closures at Bangkok Bank?

Just curious - I know a lot of DTV holders had their Bangkok Bank closed down over the last few months, but has anyone had their bank account closed down in the last few weeks? What I'm wondering is if you have (so far) not had your bank account closed down, perhaps you have escaped / stayed off the list of accounts that are in scope for closure? I would have assumed that if you haven't had your account closed down yet, perhaps you're gonna be ok?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses concerns from DTV (Digital Tourist Visa) holders regarding potential closures of their Bangkok Bank accounts, especially following a recent crackdown. Many users express uncertainty about their account status, with some reporting that their accounts remain open and function normally despite the bank's actions. Others mention previous closures but not actual account terminations, suggesting that issues may be related to account verification rather than outright closures. The overall sentiment reflects anxiety around banking stability for expats in Thailand.

We opened our accounts in Feb this year in Phuket. Got our DTVs in may/june just as the crackdown began. Accounts frozen from june. We tried to save it by sending in a whole bunch of documents, wise and home country bank statements to prove transactions aren’t hanky-panky, home country id and business details, dtv documents sent into the embassy, one year house lease, landlords id, blue book, thai driving license, everything we could think of. Unfortunately they still had to close our accounts.

I opened 2 Thai bank accounts, SCB 14 years ago, and K.Bank 5 years ago. Both accounts were opened when I had Non Imm B and work permit. Since changing to DTV 2 months ago, my Bank accounts still function as normal. I have heard nothing from either bank. I’m not assuming I will have no issues in the future, but so far so good

I very much doubt people are having their accounts closed. Not being able to open one, sure, that's not surprising, but unless you're a scammer or have used your account for nefarious purposes, it's very unlikely to be taken from you.

They can only go through so many per week otherwise there would be thousands of people in line at the bank daily.

I doubt many bank accounts were actually closed, I had 2 and were locked, went to the bank and they didn’t even ask what visa I was on.

was going to say the same! Understandably people have been struggling to open accounts but I haven't heard of any actually being closed, just LOCKED and required to update telephone/passport number. Since opening my account on a NON B 3 years ago, no one has actually asked me if I'm on the same visa..

Who are you? Do you hold a Bangkok Bank account? A DTV? Stirring again?

lol some people get so upset with anonymous posts don't they. How is it stirring to speculate that maybe the 'crackdown' is over? It's obviously impossible to know for sure, but I just thought it was interesting that we haven't seen any recent complaints about account closures. Maybe this isn't an issue anymore?

Anonymous participant You’ve answered the question. You either don’t have a Bangkok Bank account or a DTV (or both). Otherwise, you’d be keeping a low profile instead of raising the issue again.

I am keeping a low profile, hence the anonymous post. Not very bright are we.

no idea what you're jabbering on about tbh. Yes I am a DTV holder (one of the first to be approved) and yes I have a Bangkok Bank account. What has that got to do with Asean Now? Have you forgotten to take your meds?

Still have my account, but nobody can predict the future. Even the Thai gov has no idea what they'll do tomorrow.

Or perhaps not… 🤔 Welcome to Thailand, where crackdowns rarely follow any logical timeframe. Never plan based on recent trends.
