I was reading the Thai embassy site, and it says a 60 day tourist visa cannot be extended.

Which visa is eligible for extension to up to 90 days?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A 60-day tourist visa (TR60) can be extended for an additional 30 days, but it does not extend to 90 days. To achieve a total duration of 90 days, one might need to explore other visa options or reconsider their plans around visa applications and extensions.

Australians enter on visa exempt entry stamp into our passport and can extend for 30 days at immigration in thailand. Or go online thai consulate Sydney do a TR60 visa pre-approval application, when approved express post passport and papers to Sydney consulate if you have time before you travel, cost is similar to getting the extension in thailand plus TR60 can be extended for another 30 days as well.

Google or ask here when you know where in Thailand you are and can do the extension when you want but don't leave it to the last day. TR60 maybe easier for you

India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Iran, Nepal, Togo, Nigeria and Uganda citizens cannot extend a tourist visa for 30 days. On application they will be denied and given a 7 days to leave stamp.

from what I've seen of it, it is hard work to get the STV with all its restrictions. Surely easier to get the tourist visa, and then get the extra 30 days in Thailand. That's only my opinion and I may be wrong.

It's easy bud. Did it in December last year when there was more restrictions got my 90 visa back 24 hrs later. But i did extend for further 30 days when i wss in Pattaya it was a nightmare. Qued for over 2 hrs in blazing sun. Gave up because i was in a condo and didn't have the correct paper work. Ended up paying an agent right outside embassy 3,00bht he did it in 24 hrs still had to pay the 1900 on top of that aswell 🙈

Mike Roovi Sorry but you’re in some form of denial of what’s being asked. They want a tourist extension to get another 30 days. They don’t want to go every month. They don’t need to. I have no idea why you think they’d need to.

Mike Roovi perhaps you can but the OP is asking about a tourist visa extension. What part of that can you not understand?

Mike Roovi the OP is talking about a tourist visa extension. Depending on the office being used it might take 20 minutes or an hour. Cost is 1,900 baht plus copies and photo charges (perhaps 150 baht). An agent would probably charge 4K upwards.

I know multiple agents in Patts that charge 700-900 over the cost of the extension to have you skip the queue (usually in and out in under 30 seconds) and includes the taxi ride to the office then back to your home.

Considering the taxi ride for me would be 240 baht, it’s really not much to avoid wasting half a morning in a sweaty queue.

And I’ve almost never seen the wait at jomtien be 20 minutes or less aside from some days during the worst of Covid.

You might get lucky on some random day if you show up right when they open but you might not.

I’d rather sleep in than save a few baht. Each to his own.

Mike Roovi why would you pay an agent when you have to fill in one form, take 3 photocopies of your passport pages and supply one photo?

then you can extend either a tourist visa entry (60 days) or a visa exempt entry (30 days) for a further 30 days at a local immigration office for 1,900 baht.

Thankyou, I see it is the single entry that does not allow an extension. Thats great thankyou so much, do you know how far in advance a visa should be obtained?

Thankyou for your help, I'm going to get the evisa and extend once I am here. That seems the best option :)

single entry can be extended. From posts here most are getting their evisa within 3 days (if all correct documents submitted). It’s valid for 90 days from issue.
