We have 60 day tourist visa with 30day extension which expires October 3rd .

What is the best way of extending for another 90 days ?

Do we need to leave the country and reapply or can we apply in either Phuket or Bangkok

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your 60-day tourist visa for an additional 90 days, you will need to leave Thailand and apply for a new visa in a neighboring country. Once you obtain the new visa, you can return to Thailand and apply for the 60-day tourist visa followed by a 30-day extension.

For another 90 days, you'll need to go to a neighboring country and apply for another tourist visa, then return and do 60+30 again.

and I think you can only do that for about 2-3 times before they will tell you this is now the last time.

The limit of two border entries in a 12 month period is for visa exempt entry, not for a visa entry

That's true but most neighbouring countries will only issue 2-3 back to back TR visas.

It depends on the consulate you use. Some apply in the morning, collect in the evening. Some apply in the morning, collect in the evening 2-3 days later. Check the website of the consulate you want to use.

Some require an appointment, some do not. Every consulate is different.

No neighbouring countries are same day pick-up. Laos and Malaysia next day pick-up. Cambodia 2 day pick-up.
