Hi guys, wishing to apply online for the 60 day tourist visa but the FAQ is contradictory (below link). I'm in Cambodia and from the UK and the "Am I eligible to apply online?" input line says "Permanent Residency/Current Location". In my case these are 2 entirely different things, and putting UK/Cambodia makes me either eligible or ineligible for applying! I would assume I should put my permanent residency but knowing Thai red tape it's very unwise to assume anything. I also understand where you apply from can be as critical owing to your citizenship or residency or location, especially with COVID. Can anyone shed any light on whether I can indeed apply online?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on applying online for a 60-day tourist visa to Thailand while located in Cambodia. There is confusion regarding the eligibility based on their citizenship and residency status. Responses indicate that Cambodia is not part of Thailand’s eVisa system, and the user must apply in person at the local Thai consulate. Clarifications also suggest considering the implications of applying under different locations due to potential inconsistencies in the online system.
okay, this topic has come up a couple times now AND while you technically may be able to lie to the online system (that's exactly what you're doing is telling it you're somewhere you're not) what we don't know IS will you get an approved visa showing you're NOT flying from the UK to thailand but from Cambodia to thailand 😮 Nor do we know if you could get an approved thai pass by that method either.
I think it's gonna take someone actually spoofing the eVisa system (saying you hold a uk passport and are in the uk) to get the eVisa approved and then SEE if you can enter on it from another country.
IF it works I see a WHOLE BUNCH of people applying for the eVisas saying they're in their country, getting the visas, then applying for a thai pass to enter thailand from cambodia and just fly over there, take a PCR test when you land, take another one so you can fly out and come right back to thailand on that eVisa PDF that they emailed you
Sorry dunno how that picture of Capt Kirk and Spock got on this post 😛
Thanks for clearing that up guys. Its a weird one because being online is location independent, but then you are of course physically somewhere, plenty of room for confusion. I'll be doing it the old fashioned route then!
