Non O visa extension question in Bangkok..

My husband's non O visa expires on 23 October. Just wondering when we meant to apply for extension? Is it within 30 days or between 30-45 days of visa expiry? I've tried contacting Immigration and the information given by the officers are conflicting... Thanks!
