My non o Thai wife visa is due for renewal at the end of March 2021 however on the exact date it should be renewed I have other commitments - so my question is how many days before or after the exact due date can you apply for renewal.

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can apply for a renewal of your Non-O visa at your local Immigration office between 30 days before and the expiration date stamped on your visa. Some immigration offices may allow a 45-day window, so it is advisable to check with your local office for their specific policies.

You can apply for a new Extension of Stay at your local Immigration office between 30 days before and the last day mentioned in the stamp.

Some offices allow 45 days, but that is for you to ask at your local office.

I usually apply for another extension as soon as possible. For Bangkok 45 days in advance (day of application and last day of current extension included). The only important thing, if you need to be abroad while you on consideration stamp, you will need to buy single (in most cases) reentry, which will be valid only for consideration time and will occupy half page in passport... and of course you must return to Kingdom before consideration stamp expires and get full extension stamp in immigration on date of your appointment
