This is at the bottom of the handout from Chiangrai Immigration to renew my non-o visa extension based on marriage to a Thai national. I can start the process 45 days before the extension expires, when is the cut off for starting the process, the expiration date? Thank you for your time!

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can start the application process for your NON-O visa extension based on marriage to a Thai national 45 days before your current extension expiration date. The latest you can apply is on the expiration date itself.

One think EVERYONE needs to remember (no matter if your office allows extensions when you have 45 days or less or 30 days or less) IS

If you are getting an extension that requires seasoning of funds (money in the bank etc) the seasoning has to be met when you APPLY for your extension not from the date your current extension is expiring.

Sorry for posting on this thread, but I was going to ask pretty much the same question. Just to clarify, if my extension (based on marriage) expires on September 26th, then I can extend it at any time as long as it's less than 45 days before September 26th, which is when the extension expires......Is that correct? Thanks :)

Which immigration office?

Chaiyaphum.....From what I remember last year I think they only accept extensions within 30 days from when they expire..... :)

How you count is correct. But the number of days depends on your immigration office. Most immigration offices allow you to apply for a new extension when 30days or less of your current stamp remaining. Only several IOs set 45days. Check with your immigration office how long they set that period.

Thanks for that Ellie..... :) Always good to double check these kind of things just in case someone made a mistake somewhere :)

the last day you can apply for an extension is the day of expiration (i.e. the date on your permitted until stamp).

This means you can get a new extension of stay when there's 45 days OR LESS remaining on your existing entry stamp/ extension of stay.
