TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shared their experience of having entered Thailand twice on 60-day stamps with extensions. They seek advice on when they can return to Thailand to collect belongings. Comments suggest varying opinions on re-entry timing, with many emphasizing that entry decisions depend on immigration officers' assessments, travel patterns, and having proper documentation like return tickets. Some recommend applying for a tourist visa for a more secure entry. Overall, there is no fixed waiting period post-extensions, but there's advice on ensuring legitimate travel purposes and guidelines for showing financial means and accommodation upon entry.

you will be fine to go now, especially if you don't extend again. If worried apply for a tourist visa before you go

One of the many duties of an immigration officer is to assess the person in front of them and to decide I'd they are a genuine tourist or someone who is gaming the system and living or working in the country. This is true for any immigration officer throughout the world.

If you were presented with someone who has spent June, July and August in Thailand. Then has spent September, October and November in Thailand.

Information you have is that this person has a long term lease on a condo and has spent 6 of the last
***
months in Thailand.

Would you think the person in front of you was a genuine tourist?

My advice is get the appropriate visa for your stays in Thailand.

@Andy *******
I don’t think i will stay in Thailand again for another 6 months. Me and my friend we move every month to other places in bangkok. Just this last 2 months we stayed in one place because of the good location.
Andy ********
@Margie **********
I am just trying to put forward the position the Immigration Officers are currently in. Thailand has a multitude of visas available for all different types of stay in the Kingdom. The introduction of the DTV was a game changer for many wanting to stay longer term, especially those under 50.

One interesting fact is that less than1% of people who arrive on a visa exempt stamp extend in Thailand. You have done that twice in 7 months. Just get yourself the correct visa. Then you won't be worried that you will be refused entry.

Worst case scenario if you need someone to pick up your things to buy you some time let me know, I’ll be until end of January possibly February

You should be able to get a tourist visa from a Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate. Go to their website and follow the requirements.

No one can really say it’s up to the immigration person you get and if they are in a good mood or not.. you might be able to enter if you have a returning flight that you can show them.. they are a lot stricter at the boarders especially with people that used their 30 day extensions.. they just don’t want stuff like what you were doing, living here without a visa.. it’s bit easier at the airport vs. crossing by land. it’s worth a try I guess. Good luck.

yeah your right its in the hand of the IO. What if i show return ticket and they will be like: IO i will let you in how i guaranteed you will laeave immediately even thou you show me return ticket

I doubt they would say something like that seeing how that’s usually their requirement.

New year, all visa exemptions start over, you now only get 2 a year first one they will give you a 30 day extension second one only a 7 day extension, this started November this year

If you've been denied entry then who knows how long you might need to wait. A ling time if you haven't gone back to your home country. You could try contacting one of the safe entry providers and see if they can get you in, but if they can it will cost
Margie ***********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@John *********
my friend was denied on 3rd attempt. My case is i didnt try to enter for the 3rd time in short to avoid denied entry for me.
John **********
@Margie **********
In that case either you try to enter on your own and see what happens or you try a safe entry service. I don't see what other options you have other than applying for a proper visa
Jan ******************
Based on what you describe, there is no formal waiting period you must observe before entering Thailand again. Thai immigration does not operate with a fixed rule saying you must wait X days after using a 60 days visa exemption plus a 30 days extension. What matters in practice is your overall travel pattern and total time spent in Thailand within a cycle, not simply the number of entries or extensions and at 180 days, you are already at the upper end of that sliding scale. In your case, you had two separate stays, each followed by a return to your country of origin, and no continuous stay or border bounce behavior. That generally still falls within what immigration views as ordinary tourist use of the visa exemption system itself. If you are returning briefly to collect belongings, that further supports a legitimate purpose. Explain your situation and show and onward ticket within a couple of days if you’re asked. As always, the final decision rests with the IO you stand in front of, but nothing in your described history suggests a mandatory wait or automatic issue. In any case, you do not have time to apply for a visa now, so the alternative would be to use a safe entry service through an agent at the airport.

You are right at the outer edge of what is likely to be accepted in this situation. You could just as easily be denied entry as allowed in, although one would hope that your explanation and an onward ticket might help. The clear recommendation if you want a secure entry is to contact an agent and arrange a safe entry service, where you are met and escorted through immigration.
Margie ***********

Brian *********
@Samuel ******
that’s what I’ve been told by immigration in Chiang Khong. It resets Jan 1 of each year and you get 60 days on first on arrival visa, a 30 day extension for 90 days. Your second on arrival visa of the year will be 60 plus a 7 day extension. I got a 30 day extension on my second visa but my girlfriend somehow talked them into it.

Much of the visa program in Thailand seems to subjective regarding immigration officers at the border. They have discretion.
Samuel *******
@Brian ********
Have to be prepared with the return flight. Prove of accommodation and 20k bht cash or more. They don't have any reason to deny your entry then.
Brian *********
@Samuel ******
yes while I already am aware of this, others need to know. There is definitely an element that Thai government wants out of the country. If you have money and intend to follow their laws, being turned away is unlikely.

if you want to avoid possible denie of entering Thailand you should make a proper visa.

You not have the chance to say at the immigration "I just want to stay one night, bla bla"

Maybe you lucky and go in, but a 100 safety you not have
