Hi, I would like to do a 30 day visa extension after arriving on a 60 day tourist visa bought outside of Thailand. I stayed in Bangkok when I first arrived, then moved to Korat, and will return to Bangkok later. Which immigration office should I do the extension at - Bangkok/Nakhon Ratchasima? And can I do it now rather than wait until a few days before (expires 9 April)?

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can apply for a 30-day extension on your 60-day tourist visa at either the Bangkok or Nakhon Ratchasima immigration offices. It's recommended to apply as soon as possible rather than waiting until just before your visa expires on April 9. When applying, be sure to provide proof of your residence address in the area of the office you choose to visit.

you can apply for a 30 day extension in Bangkok or Korat any time, there is no need to wait until your current stamp is running out because they add the 30 days to your existing stamps expiration date

You will need to show proof you're staying at an address in the area of the immigration office where you are applying.

It doesn't matter where you apply, 30 day extensions are issued right on the spot so you can apply, get it and be done

great, thankyou for the clear and quick answer! For proof of where I’m staying, does it need to be within a certain date - eg if I arrived a couple weeks ago & the hotel filed a tm30 at that time can I use that, or do I need proof of a more recent stay closer to the date I go to immigration?

nope you can use that, no problem (as long as that's still where you're staying 😛 )
