Hi just a quick #insurance question

I got my evisa (spouse) and will travel to TH in 2 weeks. The visa is 90 days + later an extension

My question is - For how long should I buy a classic travel health insurance from the country of origin? When will I be able to buy "expat"sort of insurance in Thailan?

I mean - e.g. buy whatever travel insurance just for a week or two and quickly change for "expat" insurance inside of TH

Or buy travel for 90days and then I will be able to buy the other one?

What's your experience/recommendations?

Thanks alot!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on how long to purchase travel health insurance while transitioning to Thailand on a spouse eVisa, specifically whether to obtain a short-term plan before switching to expat insurance once in Thailand. Comments emphasize checking the insurance terms from the home country, with some recommending going for AXA insurance, and considering the benefits such as repatriation.

Travel insurances has the big advantage of repatriation, in case of severe illness, accidents or death.

You need to buy before leaving your country for as long as you are going to be in Thailand
Henrik *****
Only travel insurances should be bought before leving home, and are for tourist lenght of stay.

Health insurance for long stay people like the OP, you can buy after arrived in Thailand.

That's the easy one Gosia, I would recommend this Broker who helped me though the minefield that is Medical Insurance and was very happy with them including the claims I made, give them a go

Just look into buying axa straight up

All depends on the insurance issued from your country some have limits of say 100 days. Some say longer but then you read fine print and a years insurance may only be valid for 60 day stints at a time.
