Hi 👋 this isn’t visa related but I can’t find anything online so thought I’d try my luck here. I am South African and currently in Thailand. Been here a while and my travel insurance expired in January. Can’t seem to buy insurance because it should be done at home before leaving but I’m here and it expired. Any info or help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A South African currently in Thailand is seeking guidance on obtaining travel insurance after their existing policy expired in January. They noted difficulty in purchasing insurance due to general requirements for securing coverage from their home country prior to departure. Community members offered various suggestions, including contacting companies like Aetna for health insurance, World Nomads for online policies available to expatriates, and Thai Vivat for competitive rates.

What about a temporary policy with worldnomads.com? You can do it online, pay online and it activates immediately after payment

Please try thai vivat, they are competitive. Can't assure any performance metric, but got it done for my Thai gf, was inexpensive and prompt. The agents are good communicators.

World nomads allow you to buy even if you are out of your home country. Hope this helps!

don’t get it either. Wasting time and energy. If they don’t want to read these posts then they should turn off the notifications or exit the group. Easy

If you will stay here much longer, i advice you ro contact Aetna, to get at least a healthcost insurance. Normally you will get it for one year. But surely there are also SA insurance companies that do every thing online?
