What steps should I take to resolve my visa situation after my work permit was cancelled?

So I have a weird situation with my old job. They were supposed to cancel my work permit/visa on January 31. So I went to Laos and back to get a tourist visa. When I got back home I noticed I only have a "non re" valid until August 16. So I'm guessing I have to cancel my visa and then leave the country again? What steps am I supposed to take? I used to have a re entry for 2025 I think but did not do that this time. The HR and visa agent is telling me to go to BOI cancel work permit and visa and then leave Thailand by February 8.

Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on their visa status in Thailand after their previous employer was supposed to cancel their work permit on January 31, but they returned with a 'non re' visa valid until August 16. They are uncertain about whether they need to cancel their visa and leave the country and what specific steps they should follow in this situation.

I thought a re-entry permit (assuming multiple re-entry permit) was valid for the duration of the visa?

I think that you said a mouthful when you said :” when I got home”

Are you really “home” here anymore?

Your visa was work visa , which , by definition is while you are employed with your sponsor employer

What visa do you qualify for now?

Non-Re indicates you were stamped in on a re-entry permit. Your work can't cancel your visa, it's in your passport which you travelled with. Get the document showing your work permit is cancelled, take it to immigration and cancel your extension of stay then leave the country (potentially the same day)
