Hi - my work permit (WP) ends on the 16th Oct and my Non B on the 24th Feb. I am looking to appoint a manager to take over my resort and pass the WP to him. I am returning to the UK but don’t have accommodation until 12th Nov. So if I bounce out to KL and get my Non B cancelled while in KL and just return to Thailand on a VOA for a couple of weeks. Will I have any issues?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on how to handle their work permit (WP) and Non-B visa as they prepare to leave Thailand. They need to cancel their work permit and extension of stay prior to their departure, and it's emphasized that a work permit cannot be transferred to another person. They are advised to obtain documentation from their employer when canceling the work permit, which should then be presented to immigration to cancel the visa extension. Finally, returning to Thailand on a visa-exempt (not VOA) basis is contingent on the discretion of the immigration officer.
You need to go and cancel your work permit and then take the documentation showing that to immigration to cancel your extension of stay based on a Non-B visa. You can normally do this a few days in advance with a letter from the company you work for. Obviously the last day you can do this is the day your work permit expires and that is the day you need to leave Thailand by. Whether you are ok coming back in on a visa exempt stamp (not VOA) will be up to the immigration officer you will stand in front of but if you have your ticket home in the time you will get stamped in for I don't see you will have a problem.
