How can I cancel my work permit and Non B visa after changing employers in Thailand?

Hi Guys, I need help. I’ve just changed my employer. I’m still on my previous Non B which has an extension until November 2018. My WP with my previous employer expiring on 15th May. My previous employer is not giving me cancellation letter. How can I cancel my WP and Non B now by myself? I’ve 2 questions:

1) If I leave the country and come back with a tourist visa, will that automatically cancel my current Non B?

2) If I let my WP expire, will that automatically cancel it?

Please advise. I’d highly appreciate your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks assistance with cancelling their Non-B visa and work permit (WP) after changing employers in Thailand, particularly in light of their previous employer not providing a cancellation letter. They have two specific questions about whether leaving the country or allowing their WP to expire would lead to automatic cancellation of their Non-B. Community responses clarify that neither action would result in automatic cancellation, and recommend visiting the Ministry of Labour for proper cancellation procedures.

The answers to your questions are

IF you are still on the original Non-B visa you can just leave BUT if you are on an extension of stay;

1 - NO, it does not automatically cancel your extension. It stamps you out of the country, and you won't have a problem getting a tourist visa at a thai consulate BUT if you are ever going to work here again and get an extension based on employment the immigration office will see you didn't cancel your earlier extension and charge you for overstay from the date you stamped out of the country.

2 - NO, your work permit will expire BUT it is not canceled the correct way.

Go to the Ministry of Labour and cancel your work permit then go to the thai immigration office and cancel your extension THEN leave the country and go get a tourist visa

Last question Tod: I previously worked at a school in Chonburi. Now I live in Bkk. Do I have to go to Chonburi labor office to cancel my WP? Or I can go to a labor office in Bkk? Similarly, do I have to go to Chonburi immigration to cancel my Non-B? Or I can go to an immigration in Bkk? Please advise.

Where did you read in my post that I said go get the visa first? :O

The way you do it is just like I said,

Go cancel your work permit, then go cancel your extension & either leave that day or get the 7 day extension denied stamp to leave thailand in a week.. THEN leave the country and get a tourist visa

Can I go get a tourist visa first and then come back and cancel my WP and Non B? So I will have a visa when I cancel those.
