"I have a friend who is on an Extension of Stay, on a Non B Visa, with Valid Work Permit. This friend is NOT a teacher. The extension of stay expires September 5th. Their Work environment has gotten unbearable. And they are contemplating resigning from their job. Can anyone give me solid advice on if this falls under the Amnesty? And does anyone have advice on being able to stay legally until its safe to return home or find other employment elsewhere?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice for a friend on a Non B Visa with an Extension of Stay who is contemplating resigning from an unbearable job. Key suggestions include considering the implications of cancelling the work permit and the necessity of staying legally in Thailand while searching for new employment. There is discussion on utilizing the amnesty option if necessary but also warnings about the risks of acting impulsively.

Unless you’re planning to leave thailand find a new job first. Then go to immigration and transfer letter.

If you cancel your work permit your visa ends. Only way to get a new one is outside of thailand which is not feasible given the current situation.

can I give you 2cents of HR advice - These times have got everyone tense and under pressure, quite often bleeding into our workplace. As a result people tend to make decisions about quitting without objectively considering the long term consequences. My advice to your friend would be take a step back, perhaps even a few days off and regroup to objectively consider her options, including whether she could make personal changes at her job that could make it a bit more tolerable. I obviously don't know the full story but I know that making a move based on emotion rather than objectivity can backfire. Food for thought, hope it all works out ok for your friend

They would cancel their work permit, they would take that proof of cancellation and documents from their employer and go to the immigration office and cancel their extension of stay, THEN they would go on amnesty and be allowed to stay no longer than the 26th of Sept.
