What Should I Do About My Non-B Visa After Losing My Job in Thailand?

Hello everyone.

I need some help with my Visa situation. I am currently on a Non b Visa which is due to expire on 8th June however the amnesty program lets all foreigners stay in Thailand legally and legitimately until 31st of July. The school that previously helped me procure my non b had to terminate my contract in March and with the COVID 19 situation finding a job during April and May was nearly impossible. Now I'm beginning to get some job offers and I see new opportunities but this situation with my Visa is hard to comprehend. Will my previous employer have to cancel the non b I earlier obtained?

Do I need to apply for a new one or may I get an extension on the current one?

If so can it be done in Thailand or do I need to return to India?

Going back to my home country (India) would be the least preferable Option since coming back will be tough.

Please help with your advice/recommendation.

Thank you ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice about their Non-B visa, which expires on June 8th, amid job offer opportunities after their previous employment was terminated. They inquire whether their previous employer needs to cancel their visa and whether they can apply for an extension or need to return to India to apply for a new visa. Comments suggest confirming the type of Non-B visa, and recommend getting documentation from a new employer to apply for an extension.

you are very lucky that the visa doesn't have the name of the employer written on it in thai. They usually do that and it would mean that you can't use it for another employer

What you do now is get the documents from your new employer and go to the immigration office to apply for an extension of stay based on employment. You employer will know the extension documents you need.

you need to meet the requirements to get the extension with documents from the Ministry of Labour (your work permit from the NEW company) and from your new employer.

That's who you need to be talking to not the labour dept, not immigrations, not your embassy, but your new employer

I need some more information:

> I am currently on a Non b Visa which is due to expire on 8th

Is this "Non-B visa" a full page sticker that's good for 90 days, OR is this a stamp that's good for an entire year.

>Do I need to apply for a new one or may I get an extension on the current one?

*IF* You were on an extension of stay based on employment, t should have bee terminated in March, when your contract/employment ended. IF your final day working was BEFORE the amnesty, you would be on overstay and would have to pay a fine.

It's a Non B Visa that is valid for 90 days. From what my previous employer has told me and I believe it is possible to transfer this non b to the next employer but now with it's validity soon to expire I'm not sure how to go about it. I will have to apply for a non b again I was wondering if I could do it in Thailand itself.
