Good Friday Group, Thank you for accepting in the Group.

I came in to Thailand last year in October in a Non-B Visa, with my Work Permit in order. in January my company did request the Extension for 1 year, so the Visa its Valid until January 2021.

Unfortunately, I will get Laid Off by the end of this month, July 31st same day as Amnesty finish. My Company says that they will request (an Extension*) in order for me to stay until August 20th.

Here comes the Questions:

- Is this accurate? a friend showed me that once his Work Visa was canceled on Feb 1. the Stamp says:'Work Visa is Cancel on Feb 1st, need to leave before Feb 13th" this will be my situation?

- As you guys have more information, what do you think are my Options for me to Stay, Can I Switch into other Type of Visa within Bangkok? Can I ask for some sort of Extension?

Thailand and Argentina has Visa Exemption and Bilateral Agreement, Can I switch to that option or Can I apply to a Tourist Visa? or ED Visa and Study Thai? at least to stay until my Apartment lease contract ends at January 2021.

Thank you Robert, Tod, Benjamin and whoever can suggest any information.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, who entered Thailand on a Non-B visa with a valid work permit, is facing potential unemployment and seeks advice on their visa status and options for staying in Thailand after their work visa is canceled. They inquire about the validity of a temporary extension their company is considering and options for switching to other visa types, such as a tourist visa or an educational visa, after being laid off.

If your employer is BOI/IEAT company, you MAY get somedays "to leave the country" without applying for further extension. If your employer is one of other standard companies, there is no grace period. You need to apply for an extension with another reason when your current extension ends.

There is not available any tourist visa (except visa Thailand Elite provides) or exempt entry inside Thailand.

Currently changing a Non-ED visa with private language school is not available inside Thailand either as I'm aware of..

It is normal that the day you stop working, your permitted to stay to work must be cancelled on the same day.

If possible you can directly apply for a new Extension of Stay if you can meet any of the requirements or get a stamp like you showed if you worked for a BOI company and get a few weeks extra stay.
