Hello Admin,
This query is for my friend. She is working in chonburi and planning to reisgn next month. Recently she got her visa renewed and have stay until jan 2024. She told me that her company will cancel the work permit. She wants to stop working by 31 March. So last workign day will be 31 March.
But she wants to stay 7-10 more days in thailand to pack and do some shopping before she goes back.
Her questions:
1. If the work permit is cancelled by the company, does it automatically cancels the visa and does she have to leave on or before 31 March?
2. Is it possible to cancel only the work permit and can she leave like on 7/8 april?
3. Can the company cancel her work permit by the time she plans to go back?
4. If company cannot provide any stay until 7/8 april, can she apply for any extensions beforehand or can she get a tourist visa?
So what would be the best course of action?
I couldn't find proper answer online and got many mixed answers.
Thank you.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The situation revolves around a friend's resignation and visa status in Thailand. After her work permit is cancelled, the visa may not automatically cancel, but she must leave Thailand when her employment ends. She can negotiate with her employer for a later cancellation date and may be able to obtain a temporary extension or visitor visa by exiting and re-entering Thailand, depending on her nationality.
