I see that most people on here have been applying for the DTV from Asian countries. I'd really like to hear about the experience of some Americans. I did see something about consulates here asking for tax returns? Can anyone tell me what they had to do to get approved while applying here? Specifics would be appreciated! Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
This post seeks insights specifically from Americans who have applied for Thailand's Digital Nomad Visa (DTV). Several commenters shared their experiences with the application process at various US embassies, noting that some were not asked for tax returns. One successfully applied online through the DC embassy without needing additional documents, while another provided a bank statement and employment letters. The discussion suggests that tax returns may only be a requirement for freelancers or digital nomads seeking confirmation of income.
I applied online successfully at the DC embassy. I went the soft power route. Took 9 business days, no additional documents were requested. Was not asked for tax returns, receipts for hotel bookings/, proof of onward travel, etc. Was a very straightforward process.
Search the group with keywords of the embassy/consulate city names in the US. My take is it hasn't been difficult for US approval. Just a guess but tax returns would be for digital nomad and freelance route applicants.
