What should I do if my visa application was rejected due to incorrect passport issuing country?

Hi guys, I just received a response to my application that is as follows:

“We are unable to proceed further with your application as you input GBR in country of the authority that issued your passport which is not match. Your application will be cancelled and you need to reapply. All visa fees are not refundable.”

This is just not true as this is not the information I entered.

Has anyone else encountered this?

For additional context, it is a Nigerian passport, but my last renewal was done at the embassy in Vilnius, so I put in Lithuania as the place of issue as it appears on the passport. Now I wonder if I’m supposed to have typed in Nigeria. This part is always confusing. I applied from London as I live here now.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user received a rejection for their visa application due to a discrepancy in the country of issue for their Nigerian passport, which was renewed in Lithuania. They are confused about whether to list Nigeria or Lithuania in the application. Comments suggest that the country of issue should correspond with the nationality of the passport, which is Nigeria, regardless of where it was issued. Several responses highlight similar issues faced by others and the non-refundability of visa fees.

Should've been Nigeria. Doesn't make sense to put Lithuania because it's not a Lithuanian passport, and you're not Lithuanian.

Did you turn of autocorrect before starting the application.

Or use autoscan to input the passport details.

The e-visa manual ( top right corner) explicitly says that errors in passport details, can in nonway be edited, neither by tou or Embassy staff, and will lead to rejection in every case.

Visa-fee non refundable.

New application is needed.

But face it there are several red flags: Nigerian, passport not obtained in Nigeria, not applying in Nigeria.

Most African nationals may take considerable longer to process ( 8-10 weeks), and need to supply extra documents, as explained on the embassy website.

I haven’t even been back in Nigeria in a decade, and I applied for the regular visa last year and got it. So I reckon I probably made a mistake in the application indeed or they have stricter dtv requirements for Nigerian passports.

You really have something against Africans, huh? I'm Nigerian, applied at home, and got my DTV in 10 days. Having a Nigerian passport is not a "red flag", and besides, many Nigerians are getting the DTV, and NO, it's not taking us "8 - 10 weeks". That's total NONSENSE! That time frame may only be true if we're not in our home countries, like an African in Malaysia, instead of his home country Nigeria. Then it may take longer. Stop spreading misinformation about African applicants. I'm sorry to disappoint you, but from my experience, Thailand treats us fairly!

No, I don't have anything against any nationalities.

But everyone who has thoroughly read different Thai Embassy websites and the e-visa website would know that there are extra documentation demands and longer processing times for many african nationalities.

That's the facts, proven again and again in this and similat groups.

So it is you who are spreading misinformation

I am Brazilian and my last passport was issued in Yangon - Myanmar.

In my application, Place of issue, I put "Brazilian Embassy Yangon - Myanmar".

It was approved.

Country of issue defines your nationality.

Place of issue is tied to an embassy and is supposed to be the name of the city the embassy is in.

Since you've entered lithuania im assuming you've entered in the country of issue field by mistake , which should have been nigeria.

- Yeah, so the issue is you needed to put your country in the slot for passport. Application is not canceled and fee lost, unfortunately.
