What should I do after my DTV visa application was rejected in Hanoi?

Jan 14, 2026
My DTV application just got rejected… In hanoi, soft power (muay thai). I followed all rules but something must have been wrong. A visa agency did it for me and I double checked. What are my options, would applying in Hanoi again be stupid? So sad about this…

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice after their DTV visa application for 'soft power' Muay Thai was rejected in Hanoi. They followed all necessary procedures and used a visa agency, which raises concerns about the agency’s reliability. Comments from the community suggest that reapplying in Hanoi might not be advisable due to increasing rejection rates in Vietnam, particularly for the Muay Thai category. Other commenters recommend considering application from a home country instead of reapplying in Hanoi and suggest seeking a trustworthy immigration agency.

I got rejected twice in Hanoi for Muay thai I wouldn't recommend doing it there again. I am trying again in my home country.

Nothing to do. Buy a real visa.

Many denial from Vietnam, and I'm pretty sure there are way to much demands and abuse, so they give less and less.

this is a genuine question. Given that the application is now online only how does an agency submit your application?

Do they log in with your profile or is there an actual agent profile.

Not sure if I can say as I was signed on a contract that I can not defame them. They are located in Samui and they have high success rate. I referred two other friends that obtain German passports and they got the Visa. With that, I am leaning towards it is related to nationality

Agents make mistakes sometimes when filling the application? Have you double checked all the information they provided?

You state that your DTV Visa Application was REJECTED...

That means there was an error in the Application submission...

Your Name... error

Passport issued by... error

Passport number... error

Passport issue expiration date error

Date of birth... error

ETC

Did you double check the DTV Visa Application before it was submitted online using the Evisa online application system ?

IF the DTV Visa Application was DENIED .. that would be the wording used...

What exactly is the wording sent to you by the Thai Embassy or Consulate in Hanoi?

REJECTED or DENIED ???

I just found out that the agency put my home adress wrong. It was supposed to say “straat” in the end of the adress which means street in Dutch. Could this be the reason for rejection? If so, should I apply again at the same embassy (Hanoi) and change that part?

What's your passport nation?

How MANY MONTHS of soft power activity did you submit with your DTV Visa Application?

How MANY MONTHS of bank account statements in your name only with 500,000 Thai baht or more did you submit with your DTV Visa Application?

Anonymous participant 😳 WOW that's VERY strange that your DTV Visa Application was DENIED.

Were you in Vietnam when the DTV Visa Application was SUBMITTED?

Do you currently have a valid Thai Visa or extension of stay in your passport ?

What Thai Visa, if any, were you on while in Thailand for 2025? Before?

Did the Muay Thai training school have prior successes in sponsoring students with required documents for the DTV visa?

Where are you living in Thailand?

Where was the Muay Thai training gym located in Thailand?

Do you currently have a valid Thai Visa or extension of stay in your passport?

... Such as Non O as Married to Thai or Father of Thai child?

...Or a valid Ed Visa with extension in your passport ?

... or a valid METV multiple entry tourist visa in your passport ?

Yes, still in Hanoi and been here my whole application. I do not have a valid Thai visa because I am not in Thailand. I was on the ED visa around

but that finished and after I went back on the tourist for a bit, all legal and never overstay. The muay thai course is located in Samui and has had many succesfull DTV applications. Living in Koh Samui. I have no idea why it got rejected and I am so sad about it…

When going through an agency they provide a reason for denial. If they say one wasn’t given then they agency might be doing shady business.

So prove that it doesn’t. It’s that simple. Google says most don’t but sometimes they will provide a reason. That’s my proof where’s yours at suggesting otherwise. Also 2 ppl told me they agency they went through provided that service.

no they don't. You have no idea what you are talking about. All applications are processed the same, embassy doesn't magically give an explanation just because they are an agency 😂😂

stop relying on AI so much. Gemini hallucinates, like saying “policy shifts” would be a reason for DTV denial. There hasn’t been a single policy shift in regards to that visa.

AI is useless in this matter.

An agency isn’t going to get any more or less information than you would applying on your own. Some Embassies or Consulates may share more information about why they denied your application but most will simply say nothing.

all applications are done via the electronic portal, regardless if you are an agent or an individual / you think they search out which application was done by an agent and add extra information for that agent? Make it make sense

Most places agencies won’t provide one. But there are a few agency’s that will and reapply for you at no cost.

- Yes, I know some agencies will reapply, but you have not clarified how do they receive a reason for the rejection from the embassy? They might have their suspicion on why it was rejected, but they don’t receive anything special from the embassy.

I wouldn’t know how they do it since I don’t work for an agency that provides that service. Can you provide proof they don’t? A simple google check would suffice.
