Got rejected in Hanoi for soft power after few days of applying while providing all the documents below:
● Passport photo page – A clear image of the first page of your passport (no fingers visible, good lighting, no cropped edges).
● Portrait photo – A recent photo of yourself against a white background, facing the camera directly (good lighting, no cropped edges).
● Bank statement – A personal bank statement showing the last 3 months of transactions, with a final balance of at least 500,000 THB.
● Invitation letter from the Muay Thai gym.
● Proof of residence in the country of application – A hotel booking for at least one week.
● Visa – E-visa, visa, and/or entry stamp (depending on your case).
● Current address in your home country.
● Active phone number.
● Thai phone number (if available).
● Address in Thailand, including your landlord’s phone number.
In addition to the above I was using an agency that has good reputation that was helping with gathering and submitting all the required info and documents. This was a very odd experience as my partner’s application was submitted a day before mine and hers is still under pending approval.
Just sharing.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user reports being rejected for a soft power visa application in Hanoi despite providing all necessary documentation. They included a passport photo, portrait photo, bank statement verifying funds, an invitation letter from a Muay Thai gym, and proof of residence. The user mentioned that they used a reputable agency for help, which made the rejection unexpected, especially considering that their partner's application, submitted earlier, is still pending. Multiple comments suggest reasons for the rejection, including potential issues with agency usage and specific documentation requirements.
Anonym deltaker Of course it matters. For example, myanmar citizens get 14 days visa free. Norwegian citizens get 2 months visa free.
If you're Cambodian it might matter as they're in war, but ceasefire. They have stricter rules for Indians and for example North Korea.
There's a difference between passports, such as Venezuela, Tibet, Norway, Iran, Israel. They're protesting against the Israel/Palestinian war going on and citizens of Israel will have a hard time entering.
Is it that difficult to state what passport you've got? I've got a Norwegian one and I was approved at the Hanoi embassy in November. I crossed the border back to Thailand without any issues, but my friend from Myanmar was held back at immigration for like 8 hours.
Passports matter. Thinking they don't is both ignorant and naive.
Hi. I had everything by the book. And I used the passport photo Sir. My application got rejected, not cancelled. It was not a matter of flawed or missing document 🙏🏼
Oh oh oh, another folk using an agent that got his/her visa application denied. Perhaps cuz of your agent using the same templates for every customers, there have been plenty of people like you who got the same result
DTV_BegPecker when you create the account to submit in the system, its one account per email address so i dont see how that would be possible, unless the agency was dumb enough to literally have the name of the agency in a whole string of emails
Not sure what you are trying to say, but there are examples where agencies submit on your behalf, using the agency’s email address. Some embassies caught on to that, seeing the same email address multiple times and have had issues with it.
DTV_BegPecker all kinds of people have been refused DTV, for various reasons. More often people applying on their own (from all the reports I've been reading for over a year). Rarely when people were using agents. Legit agents usually ensure there will be be no mistakes when filling the application and they triple-check all submitted documents. But they also sometimes get the most 'desperate' cases to deal with (people who've had multiple past overstays, those who've already applied on their own and already denied once or twice, etc.) so using an agent never guarantees 100% success, it just greatly maximizes your chance.
DTV_BegPecker lol, a happy DTV 'soft power' user. And I used an agent, yes. This does not make anything I mentioned above invalid. Search for 'denied DTV' in this group and you'll see that most people - by far- who were denied a DTV applied on their own.
