Dear members,

I am currently on non o marriage visa. I have to travel abroad and won’t be able to come back before my marriage visa renewal date in October.

My question where i need guidance in this is

1-any possible way to retain / and renew the marriage once i m back in Dec or it will expire automatically?

2- If no way to retain my visa then what’s the best way to exit the country and then enter back to Thailand to get my marriage visa renewed?

Thanking you all in advance for the help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is on a Non-O marriage visa and needs to travel abroad before the renewal date in October. They seek guidance on whether it's possible to retain their visa until they return in December, and if not, what is the best way to exit and re-enter Thailand for the renewal. The comments suggest that the visa will expire while they are away, and they would need to apply for a new Non-O visa or enter on a tourist visa when returning.

said. There are no options if it expires while you are out of thailand other than a new visa before returning.

If you can’t get back in time for your year extension then you have to start again getting a Non O visa from your home embassy/consulate. That’ll give you 90 days on entry and then you apply for an extension as that’s winding down.

you can also change from a tourist visa to a non-o based on marriage once inside Thailand in case that has any advantages. I just did that about 6 months ago.

. Unless he works or owns a business here that he needs to maintain a spouse visa/ext to do.

you can but the funds for the initial non O visa in country need to have been seen to have come from abroad. If the OP has had numerous extensions before they may not be able to show that.

there is no proof of funds origin on a Non-O issued in country based on marriage to a thai. That is only for getting the Non-O based on retirement. He doesn't need to show where the 400K baht came from at all to get a 90 day Non-O based on marriage at the immigration office

oh ok. Thanks for the heads up on that.

good point. I wasn't sure on the exact differences, just thought that some of the non-o requirements and how the visa works can be different when applying in vs out of country. Thought I would point out that it is an option, perhaps not better one though.

. Getting a spouse visa outside Thailand is far and away easier outside Thailand than getting an extension inside Thailand, especially financially. Far less bullshit paperwork too.

. Go to the consulate website of the country you will be going back to Thailand from and check there.

. Wont apply to you if you aren't Australian . Each country's consulate has their own set of requirements.
